Hey y'all! Bringing something fresh to #Josieland. Introducing, Josie's Weekly Round Up! In these posts, you can expect to get my take on some of the topics (music-related) going on 'round here.
These round-ups will be centered around music and #djlife of course. Thursdays work best for me, so that's when I'll be posting ya dig? Cool.
Catch up with Josie’s #WeeklyRoundUp for the Week September 14th, 2017 below!
1. BET just dropped the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards Nominees:
Who else is excited about the BET Hip-Hop Awards this year? Last year I was lucky enough to DJ an after-party when the Awards were here in Atlanta (which was lit BTW).
I’m excited for the Cyphers! They do a good job at shining a light on rappers that can flow, ya heard? It’s also important to note that our girl Cardi B is nominated for 9 awards. Crazy right? Much love to her and her team.
Check out all 17 nominees here:
2. Trae the Truth Putting on for His City in H-town during (Ongoing) Hurricane Harvey:
If you haven’t been following this Houston Rapper on IG, you've been missing out. Trae has been chronicling the impact of Hurricane Harvey on Houston and surrounding areas since the beginning. It’s clear to see that the continued visibility he's brought to the devastation has definitely helped to hold our awareness. Follow Trae on IG @traeabn to see where you can continue to help.
3. Song of the Week: Crew (Remix) [feat. Gucci Mane, Brent Faiyaz & Shy Glizzy]
Why? Because body rolls and vibes.

4. #FestivalSeason continues.
This past weekend we had the One MusicFest in the City. While I didn't get the chance to attend, I heard (lol) it was definitely worth the ticket! Highlights include a performance from the Migos and Mos Def. Check out an awesome write up here:
5. Pioneer DJ Introduces the XDJ-RX2:
You know I had to throw something in about #djlife. This week Pioneer announced the XDJ-RX2. Aside from this all-in-one system having virtually every feature you can think of (including a qwerty keyboard), you can even record mixes directly to usb. Here are some of the specs that I thought were pretty dope:
2 mic inputs
Each deck has 8 large, multi-coloured tactile Performance Pads for instant access to professional performance features such as Hot Cues, Beat Loop, Slip Loop and Beat Jump
Ability to play 4 formats (AAC, MP3, WAV & AIFF)
Watch the Introduction video below:
That's all for this week! Catch you in the next one.
